Manitoba’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin is expected to provide an update on COVID-19 in the province on Thursday. On Wednesday, he reported nine new deaths related to COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 256. Roussin also reported 349 new cases of the virus, which brings the total number of cases to 14,558 cases province-wide. With the new case count, the province reported over 300 hospitalizations due to the virus for the first time. Manitoba’s five-day test positivity rate was 14 per cent across the province and in Winnipeg as of Wednesday. Last Thursday, Manitoba announced stricter measures to limit residential gatherings and retail operations and to ensure that only essential items are purchased in person.
