South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Coronavirus lockdowns around the world in 2020” – below is their description.
The world was shocked when China imposed a draconian lockdown on the central city of Wuhan in January 2020 in an attempt to contain a new coronavirus that would develop into a global pandemic. As Covid-19 spread around the world, so did lockdowns. As of the first week of April, about half of the world’s population or some 3.9 billion people would be under some form of lockdown. While the restrictions on movements have had a devastating economic impact, they also prevented millions of coronavirus-related deaths worldwide.
