The Telegraph in the UK is reporting on the news that 1.5 million UK citizens classed as “vulnerable” will as of this week be advised to completely isolate themselves – a process called “shielding” – and will be able too have essential goods delivered to them by agents of the state.
The government has announced plans to deliver medicine and food to those who are being asked to self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic.
Some 1.5 million vulnerable people will be sent letters warning them to stay at home for at least 12 weeks.
Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick said medicines will be delivered to these individuals through community pharmacists, and food will be delivered by local councils with the support of supermarkets and the armed forces.
