Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam gave a stark warning on Friday, saying if people continue on the current pace and do not take urgent action, the country could see an estimated 10,000 new cases daily by early December.
Tam made the comments alongside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, deputy chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo, Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc during a COVID-19 update Friday.
Canada has a total of 282,577 cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, including 10,748 deaths.
