The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Director Dr. Robert Redfield, in his opening remarks to the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), announced on Wednesday $200 million in funding to help states implement COVID-19 vaccinations. Redfield also encouraged Americans to embrace “powerful public health tools” like wearing a face mask, hand-washing and social distancing and said that going into the fall, he’d like to see all Americans get a flu vaccine. The CDC director also told Senators that underfunding for health care had led to a system that has been “sorely tested” during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
