Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday announced that Canada has secured two new deals with companies working on potential COVID-19 vaccines. The two agreements include 76 million doses of Novavax Inc.’s vaccine candidate and 38 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s candidate.
Trudeau made the announcement at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Royalmount, Que.
The prime minister also announced that the federal government is providing over $126 million to expand the biomanufacturing facility at the (NRC) in Royalmount, Que. for vaccine production when one is developed.
He visited the Royalmount Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre facility and met with the NRC President Iain Stewart and several scientists prior to the media avail.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Navdeep Bains alongside other ministers and MPs were in attendance.
