Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided an update on the COVID-19 pandemic on Monday, saying that 258 new cases and four new deaths had been reported in the province over the weekend.
According to Hinshaw, there were 83 cases reported Friday, 106 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday.
On Sunday, Alberta Health Services also confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary. The outbreak had been declared Aug. 20 due to six positive cases in patients and staff on a mental health and addictions unit.
As of Monday, there were 13,006 cases confirmed in the province.
