Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced new restrictions to acute care settings in the province. Effective Monday, access for designated support person will be limited to one for each patient in ambulatory care, emergency departments, urgent care, maternity or postpartum and other inpatient areas. Critical care, pediatrics and the neonatal intensive care unit will be limited to two designated support persons.
Hinshaw also announced the province had identified 1,738 new cases of COVID-19 and an additional 18 deaths on Friday. With 684 patients in the hospital, 123 of which are in the intensive care unit.
Hinshaw also took some time to discuss the provinces new ad campaign aimed at younger Albertans who may have tuned out medical advice.
