Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “Cormann’s Europe trip to cost taxpayers ‘hundreds of thousands, if not millions'” – below is their description.
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says it’s been reported Mathias Cormann has eight staff with him on his costly taxpayer-funded bid to become secretary-general of the OECD. The aircraft has so far travelled more than 20,000 kilometres allowing the former finance minister to lobby in person for the job. It has been estimated the aircraft is costing $4,000 per hour. The prime minister pushed back when asked about the cost of the campaign, declaring it a worthwhile investment. “This will end up costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands, if not millions,” Mr Clennell said. “Cormann always could strike a deal and he certainly seems to have with Scott Morrison here.”
