In Western Australia’s Burrup Peninsula, more than a million rock engravings are in the red rock landscape, including the earliest known image of a human face.
But there’s growing concern industrial missions produced by nearby oil and gas plants could be degrading the rock art.
And as Stephanie Boltje reports, the West Australian government is contemplating allowing more extraction in the region.
