A Colombian police chief says the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise may have been ordered by a former Haitian justice ministry official. General Jorge Vargas cited an investigation by Haitian and Colombian authorities that says the former official, Joseph Felix Badio, appeared to have given an order for the assassination three days before the attack. Vargas did not provide proof or give more details about the source of the information.
