South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Climate change worse than Afghan war for drought-stricken farmers struggling to survive” – below is their description.
In Afghanistan’s remote northwestern district of Bala Murghab, climate change is proving a deadlier foe than the country’s recent conflicts. Residents say drought has affected the region for more than a year, and locals are struggling to feed their families. Herders have been forced to sell their livestock, as farmers flee villages and parents sell their daughters into marriage at ever younger ages.
