Today US Vice-President Kamala Harris is travelling to Lake Mead in Nevada to talk up the President’s climate agenda. It’s the biggest reservoir in the US, but it’s drying up because of the twin effects of the heat and the drought, both of which are exacerbated by climate change.
And it’s where we also went this weekend to see the impact for ourselves and to attend a climate change denial conference in Sin City in Las Vegas.

I’m surprised by the angle taken by this reporter. Environmentalists have resorted to “scare mongering” about climate change for many years. Remember Al Gore predicting the extinction of 16 specific species in “An Inconvenient Truth”? None of those species is extinct today or on the path to extinction. Other predictions were for millions of “climate refugees” and widespread famine. Climate skeptics (or “realists,” as they prefer to be called these days) have always been the voice of reason in this debate, citing real-world data rather than computer models to show long-term trends that almost never match the frightful predictions of the alarmists. Yet this “reporter” tries to flip the narrative and frame the realists as the “fear mongerers.” Huh.
