Police have charged a man over a mix up at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital that killed a newborn six years ago. Christopher Turner is facing a charge of manslaughter by criminal negligence after baby John Ghanem was given nitrous oxide instead of oxygen in July 2016. Christopher Turner was a contractor for the gas company, and is accused of failing to properly test the gas pipes at the hospital. Police say the 61-year-old failed to follow Australian standards certifying oxygen connections within the neonatal medical gas outlet at the hospital.
