Chinese director Chloé Zhao became the first Asian woman to win the best director award at the Golden Globes. The 38-year-old was the second woman ever to win the award, after Barbara Streisand’s 1983 win for Yentl. Zhao’s 2020 film, Nomadland, also won a Golden Globe for best drama film.
