China says it plans to build a storage pool for relief materials with some Pacific Island nations to better equip them for health emergencies and natural disasters. This was one of the things discussed between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his counterpart from Papua New Guinea Soroi Eoe. Both sides held talks in the southwestern Chinese city of Guiyang on Thursday. Wang said both countries have the potential in cooperation in fields such as energy, transportation and trade. He also refuted criticism that China is posing a threat to Pacific Island countries.

Guinea is a country in West Africa, bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Formerly known as French Guinea (French: Guinée française), the modern country is sometimes referred to as Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from other countries with “Guinea” in the name.

It’s known for the Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, in the southeast. The reserve protects a forested mountain range rich in native plants and animals, including chimpanzees and the viviparous toad. On the coast, the capital city, Conakry, is home to the modern Grand Mosque and the National Museum.
