Recent from Al Jazeera English:
Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “China’s population growing at slowest pace in decades” – below is their description.
China’s population is growing at its slowest pace since the 1950s, with falling births and a rapidly ageing population.
A once-in-a-decade census also revealed the population grew by more than five percent to 1.41 billion people.
But, as Al Jazeera’s Katrina Yu reports from Beijing, experts predict that number will start to decline within the next five years.

In This Story: Census
A census is the procedure of systematically enumerating, and acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population. This term is used mostly in connection with national population and housing censuses; other common censuses include agricultural, traditional culture, business, supplies, and traffic censuses.
One of the world’s earliest preserved censuses was held in China in ad 2 during the Han Dynasty. The population was registered as having 57,671,400 individuals in 12,366,470 households.
