China Southern Airlines’ ARJ21 aircraft, China’s first turbo-fan regional passenger jetliner, has completed its first commercial flight.
The aircraft took off from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 09:42 and landed safely at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport after flying about one hour. Developed by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the ARJ21 is designed with 78 to 90 seats and has a range of 3,700 km. It can fly in alpine and plateau regions and adapts to various airport conditions.
China Southern Airlines plans to have 35 ARJ21 aircraft by 2024.
