Eight crew members are dead and nine remain missing from the cargo ship that capsized off the coast of Japan on January 25. Currently five members of the 22 person crew have been rescued, China’s ambassador to Japan has urged for an all-out search and rescue effort. The crew of the Hong Kong registered vessel, Jin Tian, consisted of 14 Chinese and eight Myanmar nationals. Lv Guijun, the consul general at the Chinese Consulate in Fukuoka, says China’s embassy in Japan activates the emergency mechanism.
