China’s box office revenue topped 6 billion yuan (US$944 million) during the Lunar New Year holiday from February 1-6, 2022. While the Spring Festival earnings were down by around 7.8 billion yuan (US$1.2 billion) from the six-day holiday in 2021, it was a victory for The Battle at Lake Changjin II. The film, focused on Chinese soldiers fighting American forces during the 1950-1953 Korean war, was the top earner raking in more than 2.5 billion yuan (US$393 million) during the holiday. The comedy Too Cool To Kill came in a close second, and the feature film Nice View (2022) ranked third.
