China says Afghanistan needs more support from the international community. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke in Doha during a meeting with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the acting deputy prime minister of the Taliban’s interim government. It’s the first high-level meeting between the two sides since the Taliban took over. Wang urged Afghanistan to demonstrate openness and unity while saying China respects the country’s sovereignty. He also said Afghanistan needs more international support to overcome its challenges.
