China State Construction has built an office complex with a carbon footprint close to zero — the first such construction in Southwest China’s Chengdu city. The popularity of Zero Carbon Buildings has been on the rise. These buildings are highly energy efficient and can be powered with renewable energy. Eco-friendly buildings are not a new concept. But focusing on reducing carbon emissions is believed to be more effective in curbing global warming. And China is planning to roll out guidelines to further encourage carbon emission reductions from buildings.
