China National Petroleum Corporation announced the successful launch of the world’s first large dynamic positioning shallow-water special exploration vessel, BGP (Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting Inc.) Innovator, on Wednesday in Dalian City, northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Wednesday. The BGP Innovator has adopted the first all-electric propulsion system, which allows for digital management and intelligent control of the vessel’s system. The vessel has implemented seismic source and node retraction to become the world’s only large shallow-water dual function vessel.
