China has topped the world in solar-energy growth with its solar capacity hitting a record of 300 million kilowatts. The country has been the world leader in solar capacity since 2015. China is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2060 and continues to grow its renewable energy capacity. In 2021, the amount of solar panels installed on rooftops in residential areas outpaced installations on solar farms.
