A 7.3-magnitude quake hit the southern part of Qinghai province in northwest China early on Saturday, hours after a deadly quake struck close to the border with Myanmar.

The tremor hit about 1,000 kilometres (621 miles) north of the first quake.

While there were no reports of casualties, roads were damaged in Maduo county.

Aftershocks continued into Saturday morning, with multiple smaller temblors recorded by China’s earthquake administration.

The quake came four hours after a strong, shallow tremor rocked southwestern China near the border with Myanmar.

At least three people were killed and at least 27 others injured, according to officials.
