China on Saturday expressed anger over the remarks made by British Prime Minister Boris Johson about #Xinjiang and the #HongKong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) at the Munich Security Conference on Friday. A statement from the Chinese Embassy in London rebuked Britain for accusing China of what it called “suppression” of the Uygur people in Xinjiang, and its “oppressive” national security law in HKSAR.
A spokesman said Xinjiang enjoys social stability, economic growth and ethnic and religious harmony. And the purpose of Hong Kong’s national security law is to fix legal loopholes existing in the region’s security. He said the law is conducive to the implementation of “one country, two systems,” and the protection of Hong Kong people’s rights.
