Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Chile’s Indigenous: The Mapuche Fight | Between Us” – below is their description.
Southern Chile is beautiful and vast, but it is also the place in Latin America where an indigenous group is openly fighting for their land.
Al Jazeera’s Latin American correspondent Lucia Newman takes us through their struggles and explains why this conflict is so different from others in the region. “Some view it as the wild west.”
As Chileans prepare for a historical election, Latin American correspondent @LuciaNewman tells us what this means for the country’s indigenous population.
