Chile pandemic: COVID cases rising despite vaccination campaign

Al Jazeera English published this video item, entitled “Chile pandemic: COVID cases rising despite vaccination campaign” – below is their description.

COVID-19 infections and deaths are rising sharply in Chile despite the country having one of the world’s most efficient inoculation campaigns.

Thirty-three percent of the population has already been vaccinated but that has not been enough to give its residents the 80 percent herd immunity needed.

Hospitals are overflowing with coronavirus patients and quarantine curbs will be imposed next week.

Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman reports from Santiago, Chile.
