Dr Alan Finkel has defended the Government’s plan to head out of the COVID-19 recession on the back of a gas-led economic recovery. The proposed energy policy has drew criticism from former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, who yesterday called it ‘crazy stuff’ and ‘a fantasy’ that should not be part of the Coalition’s energy policy. Energy Minister Angus Taylor yesterday released a Technology Investment Roadmap that will funnel $18 billion of taxpayer money into five priority technologies over the next decade. The technologies are hydrogen, carbon capture, soil carbon, storage, and “low-carbon” steel and aluminium production. Coal, gas, solar, and wind energy are considered ‘mature’ technologies, and are excluded from the list. Subscribe:
