South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Cheap housing but few economic opportunities for young Chinese in city along Russian border” – below is their description.
Property prices have been skyrocketing in many Chinese cities to the point that many young Chinese say they can’t afford to buy a home. That’s what attracted some people to the city of Hegang in the northeastern Heilongjiang province along China’s border with Russia. Home prices in the city are significantly lower than in places like the capital Beijing or port city of Shanghai. But while young people may be able to find affordable housing in Hegang, securing a job in the area is not nearly as easy.
