Security forces in Chad used teargas and batons to disperse crowds who took to the streets to protest against a military takeover following the death of President Idriss Deby one month ago.
The tension is about Mahamat Idriss Deby. He took over after his father’s death. He dissolved parliament and took control of the country as head of a military council. He has promised to hold democratic elections within 18 months.
