The Chief Minister of the Indian state of Bihar led a tribute on June 18 to five soldiers from the region who were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in the disputed Galway Valley as their bodies arrived at the Patna airport, local media said.

Violence between Chinese and Indian troops in the Galwan Valley was reported on Monday, June 15, with Indian authorities reporting that 20 of its soldiers were killed, according to Indian media.
India and China held talks during the week aimed at de-escalating the situation. “Both sides agreed to deal with the serious matter caused by the conflict at the Valley in a just manner, jointly observe the commander-level talks consensus, and de-escalate the tensions as soon as possible and safeguard the peace and tranquillity,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on June 18, according to the Times of India.
