    The COVID-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinopharm has been approved by the WHO for “emergency use.” The approval means the vaccine can be part of the COVAX framework, which tries to ensure fair vaccine distribution for poorer countries. For more on this approval process and the vaccine’s global impact, our reporter spoke to Shao Yiming, the chief expert on AIDS at the Chinese CDC, and also a member of the country’s COVID vaccine research and development task force.
