In 2015, the Zika virus swept through Brazil and the Americas reaching the islands of Cape Verde.
It caused severe birth defects, and the World Health Organization declared it a public health emergency.
Five years on, children with disabilities linked to Zika continue to suffer.
Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from Cape Verde’s capital Praia on the island of Santiago.
