Canadian health officials provided an update Friday on the government’s ongoing response to COVID-19.
Officials announced Wednesday that starting in July, fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents flying back into the country will no longer require mandatory COVID-19 hotel quarantine upon arrival and no longer have to isolate for 14 days barring a positive COVID-19 test.
The change will apply to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have had a full course of a COVID-19 vaccine. Affected travellers will be required to take a COVID-19 test both before boarding their flight and upon arrival in Canada, and remain in isolation until the test comes back negative.
Canada is also expected to announce a donation of up to 100 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, which is its share of the one-billion dose pledge that is expected to emerge from all countries attending the G7 summit this weekend.
