Global News published this video item, entitled “Canadian hospitals struggling to cope with staff shortages, growing wait times” – below is their description.

Canadian hospitals are struggling to cope with staffing shortages, growing wait times, and in some cases closing units altogether.

“We are seeing rural ERs and facilities closing because of a lack of nursing staff. Wait times are going up almost on a weekly basis,” says Darlene Jackson, the president of the Manitoba Nurses Union.

“I talked to a nurse the other day who said to me that ‘I spend my entire shift apologizing to my patients,” Jackson adds.

Marney Blunt reports on a system under stress and growing fears for the fall.
