Canadian health officials provide update on COVID-19 response, vaccine rollout | LIVE

Global News published this video item, entitled “Canadian health officials provide update on COVID-19 response, vaccine rollout | LIVE” – below is their description.

Canadian officials, including chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam and Deputy Chief public health officer Dr. Howard Njoo, are expected to provide an update Tuesday on the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccine rollout.

The update comes as the federal government faces increasing pressure to issue clear guidance on what people can and can’t do once they receive both shots.

In mid-May, the CDC eased mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated Americans, allowing them to stop wearing masks outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings. It also provided a list of activities that are safe for vaccinated people.

Canada has not yet issued similar guidance for Canadians despite provinces accelerating efforts to innoculate their populations against the virus.
