The federal government unveiled its long-awaited Indo-Pacific strategy on Sunday, with the main goals of moving away from an over-reliance on China and tapping into one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
The region accounts for one-third of the world’s economic activity today, but by 2040 will account for one-half of the world’s economic activity.
Canada’s new strategy speaks about ways to engage with Japan, Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines, but with a focus on China and India.
