Canada seeing a mental health “crisis,” but more willing to speak about it, poll shows

Global News published this video item, entitled “Canada seeing a mental health “crisis,” but more willing to speak about it, poll shows” – below is their description.

A new poll conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs exclusively for Global News finds that there are rising concerns about mental health across the country, with 50 per cent of those surveyed in the high risk category of the mental health risk index.

The poll also found Canadians are increasingly turning to medication to help them deal with mental health issues, with 30 per cent saying they’re in that category.

But the number of Canadians willing to speak to someone about their mental health is also increasing, with the poll finding 53 per cent of respondents saying they would do so. That number is up 10 per cent since 2018 and up 22 per cent since Ipsos started tracking mental health in 2015.
