NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh addressed Canadians on Monday night following the outcome of the 2021 federal election. Speaking from the Vancouver Convention Centre, he congratulated Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau on his re-election as prime minister. Singh also thanked Canadians for voting and says he wanted them to know “you can count on New Democrats to continue fighting for you.”

While the New Democrats didn’t gain the seats they had hoped for, the party holds the balance of power in the Liberal minority and will have tremendous influence in the government. Global News projects Singh will also be re-elected as MP in the Burnaby South riding.
