Federal Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra and Mark Cooper, NAV Canada vice-president and chief technology and information officer, announced new funding on Wednesday for air traffic control infrastructure in Canada.
The announcement comes amid severe delays at Canadian airports and passport offices.
Ottawa has been working with the travel industry to fix those delays, which have also been felt at airports in other countries amid ongoing labour shortages.
To help ease demand at airports, Ottawa is hiring more screening officers and boosting staff numbers at Service Canada offices to speed up passport processing.
