ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “Can Queensland breathe a sigh of relief after its latest COVID-19 scare? | ABC News” – below is their description.
Queensland Health has opened a new pop-up vaccination hub in Caloundra in the wake of the scare.
People aged 16-49 can get vaccinated against coronavirus at the Caloundra Indoor Sporting Stadium, without an appointment, until June 23.
Ms D’Ath said people aged 50-plus should still get their vaccine from their GP or a Commonwealth vaccination centre, unless they were in priority vaccination groups 1a or 1b.
Dr Short said vaccination was “really going to be our way out of the pandemic”.
“It’s really important that we open up as more vaccines become available and that people really avail themselves of the vaccine and if they’re eligible, go get vaccinated straight away.”
A virologist saThe pair crossed the border at Goondiwindi on June 5 and drove to the Sunshine Coast, where they visited shops and cafes while potentially infectious.
Queensland Health said 316 people had been identified as close contacts of the pair, including many who had been to exposure sites visited by them.
ys it is still a bit too early to say whether Queensland has dodged a bullet in community transmission of COVID-19 after a Victorian couple infected with the virus drove into the state without going into hotel quarantine.
