Half of all young Australians who leave foster or residential care are expected to end up homeless or in jail within twelve months of losing support.

Now there are calls to make support services in the capital easier for vulnerable youth to access.

The Canberra Liberals today moved a motion in the Legislative Assembly to extend out-of-home-care to young Canberrans aged up to 21. Families Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith has backed the motion – with changes.
