Calls grow to bring Manus asylum seekers to Australia

Australian officials say people held in the Manus island prison camp have only two resettlement options: either settle in Papua New Guinea (PNG), or return to their country of origin.

But some people, who held the same view until recently, have now changed their position.

While still saying that when possible those people should return to their country of origin or resettle in PNG, Australia’s ex-foreign minister Bob Carr now says that a viable third option is to bring those men in Australia.

Al Jazeera’s Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
