But despite excitement for most athletes and audiences, some critics and countries may not as be as eager to see competition again so soon.
As Crystal Goomansingh reports, there are growing calls to boycott the Games over China’s spotty human rights record— from the allegations of genocide over its Muslim Uighur population, to its cratering relations with Canada over arbitrary detention.
