COVID-19 has provided private health funds with an unexpected financial boost. Non-urgent elective surgery was cancelled for a month, and other services such as dentists and physios were limited while fund members continued to pay premiums. Now a former industry regulator says authorities should oversee a compensation process for those who paid for services they couldn’t access.
