Global News published this video item, entitled “California wildfires: Thousands evacuated as Glass Fire incinerates over 100 homes” – below is their description.
Strong winds and dry conditions combined to cause explosive growth overnight in the so-called Glass Fire burning in California’s Napa County. Over 36,000 acres of grassy hillsides and oak woodlands thick with dry scrub went up in flames in the famed wine-producing regions of Napa and Sonoma counties, forcing an estimated 60,000 residents to be placed under evacuation orders or advisories. The fire also scorched more than 100 homes and other buildings, according to CalFire. California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Napa and Sonoma counties on Monday due to the Glass Fire, and a state of emergency was also declared in Shasta County as the Zogg fire claimed three lives, charred 31,000 acres of land and burnt 146 structures.
