South China Morning Post published this video item, entitled “Buddhist monks use zip line to cross flood-swollen river in Thailand after bridge collapse” – below is their description.
Buddhist monks were among the people forced to use a zip line to reach safety after a bridge collapsed in northern Thailand’s Mae Hong Son province amid torrential rains and flooding on July 2, 2022. The bridge was washed away as waters of the Mae Samat river rose in Mae Hong Son as well as in the nearby provinces of Chiang Rai and Phayao. The region has been under the influence of a southwest monsoon in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, according to Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Severe weather expected to continue until September has already brought heavy rain, flooding and landslides that have threatened lives and homes across the region.
