US basketball star Brittney Griner has been sentenced to 9 years jail in Russia, found guilty of drug possession and smuggling.

The 31-year-old’s world was turned upside down when she was arrested after she was found carrying less than 1g of cannabis oil in vape cartridges.

Her hopes of freedom are now resting with a potential prisoner swap between the two countries.
