British military set to intercept illegal migrants at UK shore

Britain’s military has confirmed it’s been asked by the government to help prevent people from reaching the UK from France in small boats, as local authorities said they sought a “significant reduction” in people reaching their shores.

On Thursday, 235 people landed or were brought ashore from boats in the English Channel, a record number for a single day.
